Overview

We have a rare exciting opportunity for a full-time Director of Nursing to lead The Pavillion at The Hunt in Nashua.  The Hunt in Nashua is a gorgeous continuing care retirement community in Southern New Hampshire and is part of Silverstone Living.  The ideal candidate for this role is a registered nurse who is responsible for directing and upgrading nursing services to our wonderful residents in keeping with the objectives of the Community at 10 Allds Street, Nashua NH.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out all pre-admission and admission policies and procedures.
  • Interviewing and assessing potential residents to the facility, documenting such results, proposing recommendation as to admissions.
  • Monitoring the level of care required by all residents and instituting procedures for transfer within the community when necessary.
  • Carrying out and coordinating necessary in-house transfers, determining the type and amount of nursing care needed by all residents on a 24-hour basis. Completes appropriate assessment tool according to level of care.
  • Developing philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and standards for nursing practice.
  • Ensuring that nursing requirements for licensure are met.
  • Acting as liaison between nursing personnel and physicians as well as other health care specialists.
  • Being well-versed in OBRA Regulations re: MDS 2.0 and following through with appropriate assessment, care planning and documentation.
  • Hires, orients, trains, and disciplines Nursing staff for the Community.
  • Coordinates and runs weekly Resident Care meetings.
  • Coordinates Quality Assurance (Medical Director’s meetings) quarterly and reports findings.
  • Supervises and monitors the ordering and par levels of nursing supplies.
  • Develops and follows the nursing department budget.
  • Coordinates CCAC Healthcare Committee meetings.
  • Acts as The Huntington at Nashua's representative for the SNHRMC Ethics Committee.
  • Makes sure all licenses and certifications are current for the department.
  • Oversees Infection Control Program.
  • Oversees the handling, accuracy, and security of medical records.
  • Updates and maintains Nursing Department forms.
  • Ensure that all resident needs of the Community are met.
  • Acting as a resource person in all areas of patient care.
  • Representing the Community to residents, physicians, and families of residents or potential residents.
  • Handling resident and family grievances with regard to nursing service.
  • Being thoroughly aware of all State and Federal Regulations governing nursing care and community operations.
  • Being thoroughly versed in the policies and procedures of the Community, monitoring their application and routine changes where indicated.
  • Being willing and able to work a flexible schedule designed to efficiently meet the ongoing needs of the Nursing Service Department.
  • Being available to staff on off hours in the event of an emergency, or delegating someone else to take call.
  • Assisting in the setup of in-services and patient care.
  • Being accountable for safety/risk management within the nursing department.
  • Investigating any accident or incident and implementing corrective action.
  • Maintaining an orderly, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff and self.
  • Attending an annual in-service on body mechanics, right-to-know information and fire & safety procedures. Also attends outside seminars to maintain current license.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Administrator/Executive Director.

                                                                       

Qualifications

The Director of Nursing must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with at least a B.S. Degree, preferably with a minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory position, either as a head nurse or a supervisor in a geriatric/ rehabilitative facility, and must be currently licensed in the State of New Hampshire.  The D.N.S. must exhibit evidence of good health, and an ability to work effectively with initiative.  The D.N.S. must be thoroughly familiar with all State Standards of Operations for Nursing Homes, Residential Care and Home Health Regulations as well as Pharmacy Commission Regulations, and assure their implementation at all times.  The Director of Nursing shall act as the Administrator of the Assisted Living Unit.
