Overview

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Assistant/Groundskeeper to join our Maintenance Team!  Flexible hours and days are available; just ask and we are happy to discuss with you!  Join a team who has fun together and enjoys interacting with our caring residents. 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3pm or 8a-4pm

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Performing all assigned duties, including but not limited to; Trash pick-up, painting, plumbing, heating, and cooling systems, electrical, and furniture moving.  In addition, assisting with apartment turnover duties, including but not limited to, painting, sheets rock repair, and carpentry. 
  • Working on off-duty hours, if called, in an emergency including, but not limited to: Snowstorms; hurricanes; floods; fires; essential equipment failures or malfunctions. A minimum of three (3) hours will be paid for any call-in situation.
  • Assisting on weekend/holiday coverage with other maintenance staff.
  • Responsible for all outside areas on the property including the maintenance garage
  • Assume responsibility for self-safety and that of the immediate environment.
  • Reporting all problems to the Director of Plant Operations regularly and in emergencies.
  • Being available for emergency calls on an alternating basis with other maintenance staff.
  • Attending annual in-service programs including but not limited to body mechanics, right-to-know information, and fire and safety procedures.
  • Operating and maintaining landscaping and snow equipment. Large role in snow removal in winter months.
  • Maintaining gardens, hedges, plants and waterfalls/ ponds.
  • Maintaining Maintenance garage, this will consist of inventory of tools, supplies, ETC.
  • Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture, tying down unsecured items. ETC.
  • Performing additional duties assigned by Director of Plant Operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of planting, weeding, trimming and plant/flower maintenance.
  • Preventive maintenance on all lawn, snow and motor vehicles.
  • Mechanical knowledge, painting, sheet rock repair, carpentry skills.
  • Must be in good physical health and able to perform difficult tasks at times.
  • Must have ability to read, speak and write and follow simple oral instructions
  • High school education or equivalent. 1-3 years of landscaping experience is preferred.
